“Are you coming now, then?”
“Not now really. It is already dark,” Krishna said, as he looked at the wall-clock reading 7:35. “We’ll fix it up tomorrow. Okay? Till then, good bye.”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait…” Ronit beeped like an alarm clock. Krishna, ready to hang up, had to restore the phone to his ear. “Listen. You got to understand this man. I won’t be able to submit the assignment in time if you don’t come.”
“You tell me the problem on phone. I’ll try helping you from here.”
“Not again, for heaven’s sake. Remember last time? It went a complete mess.”
“Hmm…”Novels to Read Online Novels
“Now don’t fuck up. Get in here and help me fix this system.” Ronit said in a compelling tone. Following that, he also grumbled, more to himself, about why he bought the second-hand system.
“Okay, wait. But I have to take permission from mom,” Krishna came out after thinking for a few seconds.
“Oh..ho..ho… mamma’s boy. Come on Square. You are no longer a kid now. You would have been the father to a kid if you were in a village. Grow up…dude….”
“Shut up Ronit,” Krishna yelled out. “Now, if you really want me to come there, let me go ask them. I won’t be allowed to leave home after eight-thirty. You know about the recent disappearances of people here. My mother repeats Vikasnagar-has-grown-unsafe more number of times a day than my grandmother chants the names of gods. I doubt if she allows me to go even now.” Novels to Read Online Novels
“Recent disappearances? The last one occurred two months before. There is no single such incident after that.”
“But you know my mother. She will use it for the next couple of years to hinder me from going out at dark. Actually she would use it until there is not something scarier than this. And then she’ll use the new incident to serve the same purpose.”
“Huh, whatever, you’re coming.” Ronit persisted.
“Okay… now I’m hanging up. Hope mom’s in a good mood. Bye.”
“Bye. "Novels to Read Online Novels

“Why did you call me so urgently?” Krishna said, looking at Ronit through his specs sceptically.
“I told you… assignment.”
“Stop bullshitting me. Since when have you started taking studies so seriously?”
“Okay. You will not be mad on me if I tell you?”
“So, there’s no problem in the computer?”
“There is. And that’s why I called you.”
“Then?” Krishna took a bite of the biscuit on the plate before him.
Ronit looked around, ensuring there was no one near. Krishna grew curious, “What? Say.”
“I got a that movie from Lokesh,” Ronit whispered, raising his brows. His face displayed a notorious smile as he wiggled three fingers in the air.
His right hand reached for the book-shelf. Krishna held his biscuit half-way for a moment and looked towards Ronit. Ronit lifted up a couple of books from a stack and pulled out a CD. There was no label, and it was looking like a blank CD. But it doesn’t have to be one.
“Fuck man,” Krishna yelled out. A little louder and it would have reached Ronit’s family in the adjacent room, even through the closed door. “Sorry.” He lowered his voice, but not the anger in it, “You called me to see this? Damn it, man. I came cycling three kilometres through an eerie road to see this fucking film? Have you cycled three kilometers stretch on a mud road which has no one on it? There is darkness, and trees standing by the road looked no less than a monster. Even if one of them turns out to be one, you are finished.”
“Listen. Lokesh gave it to me only for tonight. He has to return it tomorrow morning. Actually he recommended it himself. And this damn thing is not working,” ranted Ronit, hitting his finger tip on the CPU. “He told it is the best one he has ever seen. And you know, good to him means something. He has seen thousands of them. I want to copy this on the system, Square. Do something.” Ronit’s lips curved upwards for a smile. Novels to Read Online Novels

Krishna just gave a half-nod, deciding whether his arrival here was just enough. Sometimes one has to see through other’s eyes too, especially if those are his best friend’s, he thought. And after all, one has to be ready for all this when one chooses a fool as his best friend.
“Okay, let’s work it out,” Krishna said after finishing his cold-turned tea in a long third sip.
“Hmm..” Ronit stood lifted his hand to press the power-button. There was a beep, and the monitor read some messages. Krishna didn’t know more, but he could understand that the Windows was corrupted. But he pressed the twelve function-keys one after another. Then he pressed combination of keys – control-alt-del and whatever he could think of. But no use.
“We have to reinstall it,” said Krishna, his gaze still fixed on the computer screen.
“What’s the problem?”
“Trojan Horse.” Novels to Read Online Novels

“Now what the fuck is that?”
“Virus,” Krishna said, trying to sound like a professional. At such situations when it is the job of wit over muscles, Krishna uses all his cards to look like a genius to his body-builder friend.
“Oh no. Is that too nasty?” Ronit looked up at the monitor and then at Krishna’s face with horrified eyes.
“Kind up. But I have the tools. I have dealt with more serious problems,” Krishna said, although he only knew how to install the Windows. Even now, his tools referred to it.
“How much time?” Ronit asked, pulling out his mobile from his pocket to check the time.
“One hour, or may be one-and-a-half. Shit, I can’t go home that late. My mom will kill me.”
“Even if you wanted, I won’t have allowed you to,” he broke a smile. Then he stood up and walked out of the room. A little later, he returned. His mother followed him.
“What will you have, son?” She asked Krishna.
Krishna threw a questioning glance at his friend. “Anything aunty. Anything will do,” he replied, looking back at her.
“You came on a wrong day. There is no non-veg at home today.”
“Anything is absolutely perfect.”
Ronit’s mother looked at her son and his friend for a few more seconds and then moved out.

“So, how’s Rachna?” Krishna took his eyes off the computer screen for a while after starting the installation.
Ronit turned towards Krishna. “Well, she should be fine.”
“Did you talk with her?”
“Not yet. Rachna is quite too reserved. I never saw her talking to a new girl, let alone a boy. Just her two friends Eshaa and Jyoti. I am confused about how should I proceed.”
“Oh… So Mr. Romeo is serious now!” Krishna gave a big smile.
“I am no Romeo. I am also one-girl-type. Just that I didn’t get the girl of my type.”
“You mean six-feet and bodybuilder, don’t you?” Krishna giggled.
“Shut up. I mean…”
“And when did you become the one-girl-type? Wow! Drastic change. Ha ha ha… For how long are you going to wear this?” He paused for a while and continued, “Okay leave that. Tell me. Does she look at you.”
“Yes. Sometimes.”
“Yes! Shy girl,” Krishna removed his specs and rubbed his forehead. Ronit gaped at him hopefully, as if rubbing foreheads could create a genie. “Will you consider my advice?” Krishna continued.
“Yes. What?”
“Go and propose her. You told me she knows about you.”
“Damn… do you want to get me killed?”
“Shut up dumbo. You said you truly love her.”
“Yes, of course I do.” Novels to Read Online Novels

“Be quick Ronu. Make it late and someone else will take her away. Er, just a minute,” Krishna turned towards the computer and pressed some more keys.
Ronit shifted his gaze to the computer screen. But he was totally unaware of the things around him. What Krishna said was right, Ronit mused. This can be a right way. But how will his sister take it. He told her about a number of girls he had interest on. But, this time it was her friend. No no. She’ll not feel good about it. But he had to do something before someone else takes the chance. No doubt Rachna was pretty, and there will be many who would be after her.
“Ronu, the food is ready. Come with Krishna.” His mother’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts.
“Krishna, let’s go.”
“Yes, just a couple of minutes more.”
“Hey what is this?” Ronit’s eyes fell on a capped cuboid-shaped transparent bottle with some sort of a pink-coloured semi-transparent fluid in it. Tiny blood-red particles suspended in the fluid were constantly moving. He lifted it and tilted it a couple of times. “It is as viscous as castor oil. Is it yours?”
“I got it on the way. Want to check out something?” Krishna stood to his feet and reached for the switch-board.
“What are you do…” Ronit’s words were stifled in his voice box in amazement. The room was dark. The fluid Ronit held glowed in soft-pink. “Wow, what on the earth is this?”
Krishna turned the lights on. “God knows. I have never seen something like this before. Neither have I read about anything like this.” He sat back in the chair and held out his hand at Ronit. Ronit handed him the bottle, but his eyes constantly gazed at it.
“Where did you get it from?”
“On the way while coming here. It lay under a tree, glowing in the dark. My condition was the same as yours, only that my excitement was half surprise and half fear.” Novels to Read Online Novels

“You didn’t tell me till now?” Ronit raised his brows.
“You would have discovered yourself at the bedtime. I wanted to see you jump in bewilderment then.” Krishna’s lips widened to smile.
“What will you do with it? I mean, if it is nothing important, may I keep it?”
“I have plans to get it tested in our labs. I am pretty curious to know what it exactly is.”
“You mean our college labs? Whom are you going to approach?”
“Prof. Gupta. He is truly interested in these types of things. I am going to go to him tomorrow.”
“Ronu. Your plates are ready son. Come quick.” Novels To Read Online Novels
